Project: The “Cascina Merlata” project will renew an area of around 540,000 square metres located in the north-western part of Milan, a district that is strategic in terms of infrastructure: it is linked via a new road system to the A4 Turin-Venice motorway, the A8 Milan-Malpensa airport motorway and the West Ring Road by means of a new road system. The lot is close to the Rho-Pero Exhibition Centre and to the Expo 2015 site, to which it will be linked directly by means of a cycle-pedestrian bridge. The new district has been designed to the most advanced criteria of environmental sustainability and includes buildings with a variety of functions: housing (fully or partially subsidised and for free sale on the market), commercial activities and services. The area housed the Expo Village during Expo 2015, after which it was converted into a social housing and services project.
